Golf Las Américas is one of the easiest Tenerife courses to reach from the island’s main southern resorts. The 18-hole par-72 layout sits just inland from Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos in a natural, gently sloping amphitheatre. Built in 1998 and designed by John Jacobs Associates, it stretches just over 6 km from the back tees.
Course character
The surrounding hills give the course more shelter than some exposed coastal layouts, while lakes, channels and ravines bring water and positioning into play. It is visually green and mature for the dry south of Tenerife, but that should not be mistaken for an automatic scoring course: the official hole guide repeatedly rewards tee shots placed on the correct side of the fairway.
Tips & tricks
Think about the next shot from the tee rather than just the longest drive. Water affects several holes, and a safe side often gives a much cleaner approach. The practice setup is strong — driving range, chipping area and putting green — so this is a good course to arrive early and warm up properly. If you are short on time, the club also publishes 9-hole and late-day options.
Useful for holiday golfers
The club has a Pro Shop, changing rooms with lockers and towels, driving range, short-game practice, club hire and GPS buggies. That makes it practical for visitors flying in without their own equipment. Published handicap limits are 28 for men and 36 for women, so check that your playing documentation is in order if needed.
Did you know?
The Spanish Golf Federation notes that remains of Guanche huts can be found beside the 2nd hole. It is an unusual reminder that the landscape around today’s resort zone has a much older human history.
Planning your round
This is a particularly convenient course if you are staying in Playa de las Américas, Los Cristianos or Costa Adeje. Because demand and prices change strongly between summer and winter, use the club’s live booking system for the actual tee-time price rather than relying on a generic seasonal estimate.
