Golf in Tenerife — Complete Visitor Guide
A complete visitor guide to golf in Tenerife — where the main courses are, when to play, what to book ahead, how to plan transport and how to combine golf with the rest of the island.
Why Tenerife works so well for a golf holiday
Tenerife combines a mild year-round climate with a concentration of established golf courses, particularly in the south. For visiting golfers, the appeal is broader than the round itself: ocean views, volcanic scenery, resort infrastructure and short transfers between several courses make it easy to build a dedicated golf break or add a few rounds to a wider island holiday.
The south is the main visitor golf zone
Many of Tenerife’s best-known visitor courses are in the south and south-west, close to Costa Adeje, Playa de las Américas, Golf del Sur and the resort corridor. This makes the south especially convenient if you want to play several courses without changing accommodation.
Golf in the north
Northern Tenerife offers a different golf atmosphere, with cooler and greener surroundings. It can be particularly attractive in warmer months or for travellers who also want La Laguna, La Orotava and the north coast as part of the trip.
When to play
Golf is possible throughout the year. Winter is especially attractive in the south because of mild conditions, while spring and autumn can offer a comfortable balance of weather and demand. In summer, the north can feel cooler. Whatever the season, sun protection and hydration matter.
Book tee times before you travel
If golf is one of the main reasons for your trip, do not leave every tee time until arrival. Popular morning slots can fill during busy travel periods. GoToTene links course pages to verified booking partners where available, so you can compare the course information first and then hand off securely for tee-time booking.
Equipment and facilities
Club rental and practice facilities are available at a number of Tenerife courses and specialist providers, but the exact service varies by venue. Check each course page before travelling if you need rental clubs, buggies, lessons, a driving range or other specific facilities.
Transport between courses
A rental car is usually the easiest option for a multi-course trip, especially if you plan to mix golf with sightseeing. Keep realistic transfer times for courses outside your immediate resort area and arrive with enough margin for check-in, practice and local course procedures.
Did you know?
Tenerife’s golf season is not limited to winter. The island’s microclimates mean the south can offer dry, mild playing conditions in winter while the north provides greener and often cooler surroundings at other times of year.
Golf plus Tenerife
A good golf itinerary does not need to become seven consecutive rounds. Combine two or three courses with Teide, a coastal day, whale watching or a historic-town visit. That is where Tenerife has an advantage over a pure golf resort: the non-golf days can be just as strong as the rounds.
